SPEED SIGN

The Council has recently undertaken a survey of the effectiveness of the Speed Sign that has been in place near the Railway Bridge.  The response has indicated that it has been effective in reducing traffic speeds, and there were suggestions about extending their use.  At the moment this would be difficult due to:

1. Consent is needed from East Riding of Yorkshire Highways to install the Signs and they require that they are rotated regularly to prevent motorists getting used to them.

2.  The sign was expensive and sharing costs made it affordable (whilst a grant was secured from the Police and Crime Commissioner, the Council needed to find 50% of the cost).

The Council has been exploring whether any other measures could be introduced to reduce traffic speeds.  One simple measure is for residents set an example.

If residents have any further comments regarding the Sign please contact the Clerk on clerk@goodmanham-pc.gov.uk, or speak to any of the Councillors.

 PARTICIPATION AT COUNCIL MEETINGS

The Council has received queries from people who believe that the public are not allowed to speak at Council meetings.  This is not correct as there is time set aside at each meeting for the public the raise concerns about issues in the Parish.  This is always the first item on the agenda.  In addition parishioners have the opportunity to raise issues at the Annual Parish Meeting.  All regular Council meetings are open to the public.  These are publicised on this website and the Council's Facebook page.  Please contact the Clerk if you have any queries about attendance or participation at Council meetings.
